Leatherneck LaCale London signs with Atlanta Falcons

London signs deal after big season with St. Louis in XFL

Leatherneck football alum LaCale London turned a strong season playing for the St. Louis Battlehawks in the XFL into another opportunity, this one in the NFL, signing with the Atlanta Falcons on Monday.

London, a Western Illinois graduate and Peoria native, started all 10 games for St. Louis, registering 33 tackles (15 solo, 18 assists) and three sacks. He was named the XFL Defensive Player of the Week for his performance vs. San Diego earlier this spring.

At Western Illinois, London played two seasons for the Leathernecks, playing in 23 games and starting 12. London had 69 tackles and 7.5 sacks for WIU.

He was named to the Missouri Valley Football Conference All-Newcomer Team after the 2018 season and was Second Team All-MVFC by Phil Steele after his senior year in 2019.

After his time at Western Illinois, London was signed by the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent. London was part of the Bears practice squad the next two seasons, appearing in one regular season game for Chicago on December 20, 2021.

London was drafted by the Battlehawks in November of 2022.
