Last Time Out
Western Illinois opened Summit League play on the road against Summit League Preseason favorite Oral Roberts. The Leathernecks dropped all three games to the Golden Eagles, falling to 0-3 in Summit League play. Derek Botaletto had two home runs against Oral Roberts.

Back At Home
Western Illinois has had its first five home games postponed or canceled, requiring them to open their season on a 23-game road trip. If you go back to last season, the Leathernecks finished the season on a seven-game road trip, meaning that WIU has yet to play at Alfred D. Boyer Stadium in its previous 30 games.

RBI Botaletto
Derek Botaletto had an impressive week at the plate. The senior from Omaha has knocked in eight RBI in the last five games. Botaletto has also tallied ten hits in those five games, including two home runs and a double.

Jake Allgeyer has been a getting-on-base machine in the first 23 games of the season. The junior has reached base safely in 21 of the first 23 games Western Illinois has played this season. He has reached via a hit in 17 of the 23. Allgeyer also leads the team in base on balls reaching first base 11 times.

Leathernecks Stat Leader
Nick Mitchell remains at the top of offensive categories for the Leathernecks. The former Summit League All-Freshman teamer leads WIU in batting avg (.435), OPS (1.243), runs (20), hits (37), doubles (10), triples (4), HR (3), RBI (18), total bases (64), SLG% (.753), OB% (.490).

Scouting South Dakota State
South Dakota State has started conference play with a 2-4 record. They opened Summit League play against Northern Colorado, dropping two out of the three games. SDSU also dropped two out of three games against their North Dakota State last weekend. South Dakota State has played all its Summit League games at neutral sites this season.

Western Illinois heads back out on the road after their three-game homestand. The Leathernecks will travel to Eastern Illinois on Wednesday (Apr. 12) before heading to Michigan State for a weekend series.
