Morrissey, DelaCruz, Parker Earn MVFC Recognition

Trio named Honorable Mention All-Conference

MACOMB – The Western Illinois football team had a trio of players named Honorable Mention All Missouri Valley Football Conference on Monday.

Quarterback Matt Morrissey, linebacker Juan DelaCruz and return specialist Jay Parker were each recognized by the league.

Morrissey completed 207-339 passes for 2014 yards. He also threw for 13 touchdowns.

DelaCruz finished the year with 61 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

Parker had 60 catches for 475 yards and two touchdowns. He had eight punt returns for 80 yards with a long of 45. He added 27 kickoff returns for 464 yards with a long of 42.

Western Illinois begins the 2024 season with spring camp, which starts in March.
