BRENTWOOD, TN – Western Illinois midfielder Sachiko Gamo received her first honor of her Leatherneck career Wednesday night, as she was named as a player of the Ohio Valley Conference's All-Newcomer team.

Gamo scored two goals and grabbed an assist in conference play, leading the team in both categories. She also ranked fourth on the team in minutes in the OVC season, and second in shots and shots on goal. She scored a pair of goals in a match on October 15th at SIUE. The transfer from Davis & Elkins started every match in the OVC season, and played the full ninety minutes on five occasions. 

Coach Josée Primeau spoke about Sachi, saying, "She made an immediate impact on the team. She came in ready for this fall season and was motivated to make the team better. She worked hard day in and day out in training and gave every ounce of herself to her team in games. Sachi is very deserving of this and we are excited about what she will accomplish moving forward.
