WIU Finish 7th at Coyote Creek Classic

MACOMB, IL - Western Illinois Women's golf finished their fourth fall tournament of the season at the Bradley Invitational on Sunday (Oct. 8). The Leathernecks finished in 7th place out of 9 teams.

Senior Natalie Hooper again led WIU, finishing T14, shooting 233 (+17). Hooper had a strong front 9 in round 1, shooting 37 (+1), with one birdie in hole 8, 2 bogeys, and the rest par. In the back 9, Hooper birdied on hole 11 while double bogeying on hole 12. Hooper bogeyed on holes 13 and 14. Heading into round 2, Hooper was shooting 77 (+5). In round 2, Hooper would birdie once again on hole eight and have the same front nine score as in round 1. Hooper had four bogeys and one double bogey in the back 9 of round 2. Heading into round 3, Hooper birdied on holes 3 and 13. Hooper also had two bogeys, one double bogey, and one triple bogey.

Senior Olivia Kerr had WIU's second-best score of the tournament, placing T24, shooting 238 (+22). In round 1, Kerr buried a pair of birdies on holes 12 and 17. Kerr finished round 1 shooting 81 (+9). In round 2, Kerr birdied on hole 7. Kerr had a solid back 9, shooting 38 (+2). Kerr shot 36 (E) in the back 9 in round 3. Kerr had back-to-back birdies on holes 11 and 12. Kerr had five birdies for the tournament, with four in the back nine.

Western Illinois will be off for three weeks before their last fall tournament at The Judson on Monday, Oct. 30, and Tuesday, Oct. 31.
