Tanner Earns Summit League Female Golfer Of The Week Award

Tanner is the first Leatherneck since 2015 to receive the weekly achievement.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.- Western Illinois women's golfer Katie Tanner added another accolade to her great career. Tanner was named the Summit League Female Golfer of the Week; the Summit League announced Wednesday (April 20). Fans can view the full release here.
 
"Katie is very deserving of this award. She is a hardworking, consistent player with a high ceiling," said WIU Director of Golf Lia Biehl Lukkarinen. I look forward to seeing her compete in Summit Championships on Sunday."
 
Tanner placed t-fifth at the 2022 Lady Jaguar Invitational, finishing the 36-hole event with a score of +6 over par (150). It's the second time Tanner has finished top-five in a tournament in her career. It's Tanner's first career weekly honor, and she's the first Leathernecks to win the award since 2015.
 
Tanner will look to continue her excellent play in the postseason as Western Illinois prepares for the 2022 Summit League Golf Championships. The Championships occur from Sunday (April 24) through Tuesday (April 26) in Newton, Kan.
