Headlines
  • Western Illinois enters Tuesday's game 4-24 overall and is coming off a three-game series at South Dakota State. The Leathernecks split a doubleheader on Saturday (April 9) and fell in Sunday's finale.
  • Chandler Fochs gave WIU a complete outing in Saturday's 5-2 victory over the Jackrabbits. Fochs pitched nine innings, allowed two runs, five hits, no walks, and stuck out five to earn his first victory of the season. The complete game is the second of his Leatherneck career.
  • Brian Raymond also had a solid start in game three versus SDSU. Raymond tied his season-high with five innings, allowed one run, and tied his season-high with six strikeouts.
  • Diego Munoz had a great four-game stretch this past week for the Leathernecks. After coming into the Illinois State game 0-16, Munoz went 3-3 versus the Redbirds with a double, home run, and two RBIs. Munoz was a huge factor in WIU's Saturday win over South Dakota State, driving in three of the five runs. Munoz hit 5-10 over his four games last week with two doubles, a home run, five RBIs, and four runs scored.
  • Nick Mitchell continues to lead the Leathernecks' offense, leading the team in batting average (.352), RBIs (19), and stolen bases (15). Mitchell will look to extend his hitting streak to nine versus Missouri, which would tie the longest hit streak by a Leatherneck this season.
  • Jake Armstrong gets his first career start as a Leatherneck on Tuesday. The Bloomington, Ill., native has appeared in eight games this season and is coming off a season-high five innings and four strikeouts versus Illinois State.
  • Western Illinois battles Missouri for the first time since the 2020 season when the Tigers took all three contests of a three-game series. Western Illinois looks for its first win over Missouri since the 2013 season when they won the final game of a three-game series 6-3.
Scouting the Opponent | Missouri holds an 18-11 record on the season and is 9-4 when playing at home. Missouri is coming off a three-game road trip at Tennessee and fell in all three matchups. Infielder Josh Day is one of four players hitting above .300 for the Tigers. Day is hitting .345 and has eight doubles, six home runs, 20 RBIs, and an OPS of 1.024.
