Hooper Leads Women’s Golf At HBU Husky Invitational

Women’s golf wrapped up its fourth tournament of the spring.

Sugarland, Texas- Western Illinois women's golf concluded its four spring invitational with the HBU Husky Invitational, hosted by Houston Baptist. The Leathernecks placed 14th overall in Sugarland. Full results can be found here.
 
"We battled some physical ailments and unfortunately, we let the wind get the better of us and erode our confidence," said WIU Director of Golf Lia Biehl Lukkarinen. "We will look forward to taking a little bit of a break and practice at our golf course now that we can finally get outside in Illinois."
 
Natalie Hooper led the way for Western Illinois with a score of +32 over par (248) to place t-58th overall. Hooper's best round was round two, where she shot +8 over par and shot par on seven of the nine holes on the back nine.
 
In the third round, Katie Tanner had a highlight with three straight birdies to score +11 overall in round three. Tanner finished just above Hooper at +36 over par to place 61st.
 
Western Illinois will be back in action from April 8-9 to compete in the Redbird Invitational, hosted by Illinois State.
