Words from Brokaw | "It was a great two weeks of training for the team since our last competition. The team seems to have found their rhythm in the new academic semester and we expect to have some great performances this weekend," said head coach Trey Brokaw.

"One group of athletes was able to qualify for the Meyo Invitational at the University of Notre Dame. There is a high quality of competition in the event," said Trey Brokaw. "Of the 48 athletes accepted in each running event, 31 of the 48 athletes in the men's 800 have run sub-1:50. It's a very high quality field and a great opportunity for our athletes to hit national qualifying marks."

Recapping John Gartland | Western Illinois saw many solid finishes in their last meet, with the main highlight coming from Maleigha Huston. Huston placed second overall and was the top collegiate finisher in the 800m. She also set a new personal record in the mile to place third overall.

The men's team highlights included three athletes placing in the top five in the 400m. Ackeen Colley took second, Lucas Hofer took third, and Richard Brown took fourth. Those three, alongside Logan Lommel, took second place in the 4x400 relay event.

Keck III | The Meyo Invitational won't be the only event for track and field this weekend. Western Illinois will also send athletes to compete in the Keck III Select, hosted by Illinois Wesleyan.

"Our second group of student-athletes will be traveling to Illinois Wesleyan over in Bloomington. Wesleyan always hosts the indoor state meet so their facility is very nice," said Trey Brokaw. "The competition will be very solid there as well and it should provide a great opportunity for our athletes to win their event and set a new personal best."

The Keck III Select will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5. Fans can stay up to date on the results from the Keck III Select here.
