Previous matchup: The Leathernecks and Beacons have played 12 times in program history, with Western holding a 2-9-1 record all-time. The last matchup was Sept. 7, 2014, which the Leathernecks lost 0-3 in Macomb.

Players to watch: In year five with the program, Bridget Schuler has proven her offensive prowess with strong performances in her last two games. She scored two goals and added an assist at Northern Iowa, and a week later scored the game winner at UIC to help Western win their third-straight game. Through five games she's third on the team in minutes played (440), second in goals (three), second in points (seven) and tied for the team lead in game winning goals.

After tying a program record for goals in a game against Illinois State, Amy Andrews has setup two Leatherneck goals in her last two appearances, including Schuler's game winner against the UIC Flames on Sunday (Sept. 5). The Birmingham, England, native has five goals and two assists in five appearances (five starts) this season.

So far this season: WIU women's soccer has won three straight games for the first time since the 2019 season when they defeated Northern Iowa, Chicago State and Omaha. Amy Andrews has led the Leatherneck attack, scoring five of the team's nine goals. Seven different players have provided an assist, with 22 Leathernecks making an appearance and six of them starting every game.

Scouting the opponent: The Beacons are currently 2-3-1 and coming off a weekend with split results on their home field. After losing to Northern Illinois on Friday (Sept. 3), they defeated St. Bonaventure 3-0 on Sunday (Sept. 5). Kelsie James leads the team in goals with four, and Allie Anderson has provided two assists

What's next: After Friday's matchup, the Leathernecks will head home for a game with IUPUI. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at John MacKenzie Alumni Field on Sunday (Sept. 12).
