From the Director's Chair | "The team is excited to start the season at ISU, especially after having last fall sidelined," said WIU Director of Golf Lia Biehl Lukkarinen. Our qualifying was competitive and came down to the last round. I'm looking forward to seeing how we play this weekend. We have a nice mix of returners and newcomers. It's the first tourney for Liv Kerr and Abby Hunter."

New Year, Same Us | The Leathernecks return 10 members from the 2021 spring season. Three key returns for the team include juniors Katie Tanner and Natalie Hooper and sophomore Riley Hansen. Tanner led the Leathernecks in the spring, averaging a team-low average 79.80 per round. Hooper proved to be a consistent help last season as one of just three athletes to play in all 21 rounds. Hooper averaged 80.86 per round as a sophomore. Hansen returns after a successful freshman campaign that saw three top-10 finishes-- including two in the top-five- and a team third-best round average of 80.56.

Lone Freshman | The team makes one new addition to the squad this season. Blacksburg, Va. native Abby Hunter joins the Leathernecks following a prep career that earned her three varsity letters, along with all-state, region, and district selections. Hunter brings many accolades along with her, including a first place finish in the 2017 Scottish Girls National Championship.

Rest of the Field | Entering its 57th year, the invitational brings in a combined 16 teams for two days of play.
