Previous matchup: Western Illinois and Eastern Michigan have faced off twice in program history, with the last matchup taking place in 2006. In two games Western holds a 2-0-0 record, winning 3-1 in Macomb on Sept. 16, 2005 and leaving Ypsilanti as 1-0 victors on Sept. 1, 2006.

Players to watch:
Forward Amy Andrews won her second TicketSmarter Summit League Offensive Player of the Week award on Monday (Sept. 13), the Summit League Announced in a release.

On Friday against Valparaiso Andrews played 82 minutes and recorded four shots, all of which were on goal, but didn't find the back of the net. Against IUPUI on Sunday (Sept. 12), however, Andrews did what she does best, scoring two goals and helping the team win their fifth straight game. It was her second multi-goal game of the season, and she now has 21 career goals – good for second most in program history.

In year five with the program, Bridget Schuler has proven her offensive prowess with strong performances in her last four games. She has scored or assisted in three of the last four, and now has three goals and two assists in seven appearances this season. Schuler is second on the team in points, second in shots on goal, and is one of six Leathernecks to start every game this year.

So far this season: After finishing with two wins last year, the Leathernecks have come out firing early in the season and are currently on a five-game winning streak. The last time the team went on a run like this was during the 2012 season when they had two streaks of five or more wins in a row.

Lauryn Peters leads the team in minutes played (639) and seven different players have scored a goal, including two true freshmen. There are also seven Leathernecks who have assisted on goals, with Amy Andrews, Bridget Schuler and Kayla Turner all providing at least two. After finishing with ten goals as a team last year, the 2021 team has scored 11 in their last four games.

Scouting the opponent: The Eagles are currently 1-4-1 and coming off an unbeaten weekend. They played St. Bonaventure to a 1-1 draw on Sept. 3 and followed it up with a 2-1 victory over Morehead State on Sept. 5. Goalkeeper Chelsea Abbotts and Rebecca Przybylo have combined to make 35 saves in net and four different Eagles have scored goals this season.

What's next: After Friday's matchup, Leatherneck women's soccer will head on the road for their Sunday matchup with Drake. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.
