Previous matchup: The Leathernecks and Flames have only played one time in program history, taking place on Sept. 19, 2019 at John MacKenzie Alumni Field in Macomb. Led by an Amy Andrews brace, Western Illinois won the game 2-1.

Players to watch: After going goalless in the first two games of the season, Amy Andrews exploded last weekend with five goals and an assist in two appearances (175 minutes). Her four-goal outburst was only the sixth time in Summit League history that a player scored four times in a single game, and it tied a program record that dates back over 20 years.

Andrews was named the Summit League Offensive Player of the Week, and she is approaching the all-time record for career goals at Western Illinois. The record, set by Ashley Hoch from 2005-08, is 24. Andrews currently has 19 which is tied for third most in program history.

Isabel Navas Rodriguez also had a strong start to the season, making 30 saves and playing every minute of the team's first four games. If the season ended tomorrow, her average of 7.5 saves per contest would be sixth best all-time for a single season in program history, and she set a career best mark against Nebraska with 12 against Milwaukee on Aug. 22.

So far this season: After losing their first two games of the season, WIU women's soccer rebounded with a strong weekend that saw them win back-to-back overtime games against Illinois State (Aug. 26) and Northern Iowa (Aug. 29). Bridget Schuler had a breakout game against Northern Iowa, scoring two goals and getting an assist on an Amy Andrews goal.

Scouting the opponent: The Flames are winless in three games so far this season and haven't managed to score a goal. Their losses came against Wake Forest (0-1) and DePaul (0-3), with a scoreless draw against Minnesota.

What's next: After Sunday's matchup, the Leathernecks will matchup with the Valparaiso Beacons. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday (Sept. 5) at Brown Field in Valparaiso, Ind.
