There's Still A Chance

Friday's score was unfortunate, but a postseason berth is still on the table.

MACOMB, Ill. - Yes, the final score was unfortunate; however, there is still good news to share after the Western Illinois baseball team's 13-0 loss to Omaha Friday (May 21).

A postseason berth is still on the table.

With one final regular-season game remaining - the Leathernecks need to defeat Omaha on Saturday and hope for a South Dakota State loss to Oral Roberts to clinch the final spot in the Summit League Tournament.

Omaha 13, Western Illinois 0

Western had its chances to poke in a few runs but left eight runners on base and four in scoring position. The team's final opportunity occurred in the fifth inning, where Luke Schwartz sent a two-out double down the field line. He co-leads the Leathernecks in the category with eight on the year and finished the afternoon with his 11 multi-hit game.

The Leathernecks conclude their regular season Saturday at 1 p.m. A pre-game celebration will recognize seniors Trenton Bauer,  Alex Dorethy, Tyler Estes, Jackson Gray, Kevin Raisbeck, and Schwartz.
