SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - After posting her first career shutout and victories in the weekend sweep, Megan Rasmussen was named The Summit League Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday (22).
"I'm very happy about Megan's performance this weekend," associate head coach Josee Primeau said. "She's been working extremely hard and did her job this weekend, which was to get us a shutout. I believe this will give her more confidence moving forward, and we can finish the season on a high note."
The accolade is the first of her career as she totaled seven saves in the sweep of Oral Roberts. She stopped two in the opener on Friday and added another five on Sunday. Rasmussen has started the last six straight games and has collected 28 saves, to rank second on the team.
Western Illinois concludes the road stretch at Omaha this weekend on Friday (April 2) and Sunday (April 4).
