TULSA, Okla. - The Western Illinois women's soccer team is leaving Tulsa with a pair of wins after sweeping Oral Roberts on its home turf Friday (March 19) and Sunday (March 21). The opener finished in a 1-0 shutout and the finale, 2-1.
Zoe Clarke adjusted the score not even seven minutes into the match when she connected with Bridget Schuler for the 1-0 score. The goal was notched on the Leathernecks' first shot of the day and quickly set the tone for what was to come --- attack, attack, attack.
Western put seven shots on frame in the opening frame, and Amy Andrews' added her name to the list of scoring plays in the 33rd minute. She scored in both games at ORU, with the latter finding the low right corner of the net on an assist by Jenna Lundgren.
The Leathernecks took a 2-1 advantage into the half and continued to pressure through the final horn. Megan Rasmussen was credited with her second career win on five saves, and her team limited the Golden Eagles to just eight shots.
Next up, the Leathernecks head to Omaha April 2 and April 4 for their final regular-season road series. The matches are scheduled for 7 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
