Kick-Off | The Western Illinois men's soccer team begins to wrap up non-league play with the host of Missouri State on Thursday (Sept. 26) and Northern Illinois Saturday (Sept. 28).

Last Time Out | Senior goalkeeper Tim Trilk wrote his name into the record book as the Leathernecks dropped a 2-0 contest to Kansas City on the road Saturday (Sept. 21).

The 31st minute was a moment that Trilk will never forget. He edged his name into the record book with his third save of the match to become tenth all-time in program history, passing Chris Davenport (1988-90) with career save number 158. He saved one more shot in the second half and now needs four more to pass Chris Frenz (2002-05) for ninth all-time.

Kansas City jumped on the board and took a 1-0 lead in the first half. Kevin Komodi found Aiden Cavanaugh (23') in the box who finished his shot into the bottom left corner.

After the Roos limited the Purple and Gold to two shots in the first half, the Leathernecks responded with seven shots on the board.Jonah Dancer and Daniel McIntosh both came off the bench and fired two shots.

On a Western corner in the 73rd minute, McIntosh flicked the ball to Cesar Cosio inside the box, but his shot just went right of the net.

National Attention | To say Tim Trilk is a wall between the pipes is an understatement. As of Monday (Sept. 23) he was third in all D1 with 44 total saves. The senior became tenth all-time in saves at Kansas City, passing his former high school goalkeeping coach. Trilk now needs four more to pass Chris Frenz (2002-05) for ninth all-time. He set a career-high 13 at UIC which tied Chris Frenz (Oct. 25, 2002 vs. IUPUI) for third in saves in a game. He is tied for eighth all-time in shutouts (7) and sixth all-time for minutes in goal (3416:24) in program history. Trilk is now three saves from becoming tenth all-time in program history for both categories.

Start Wearing Purple and Gold | So far into the 2019 campaign WIU has totaled six goals with half of them coming from newcomers. Daniel McIntosh, Daisuke Otsuka and Enric Ferrer have all found the back of the net for the first time as a Leatherneck. Another new face to the team is Caleb Ragland, who leads the team with two assists.

All Eyes On 5 | Heading into his junior season Paul Kirdorf was tabbed a Player to Watch for the 2019 season. The midfielder is one of five key returners for the Leathernecks this season as he finished with a team-high in points (7) and assists (3) while starting all 14 matches. He also helped the Leatherneck defense record four shutouts during the 2018 campaign en route to being the team leader in shots on goal (10).

Scouting the Bears | Undefeated Missouri State travels to John MacKenzie with only allowing three goals this season. The Bears were selected to finish first in the MVC coaches' preseason poll including three preseason all-conference selections. Josh Dolling will lead the charge with his four goals which have all been game winners while the backline has limited opponents to only 34 shots.

Scouting the Huskies | After a quick match at home against Milwaukee, NIU embarks on a road trip at WIU. The Huskies are 2-4-1 with back-to-back wins against Bradley and Purdue Fort Wayne. Six different players have found the back of the net along with three different goalies suiting up for over 180 minutes each.

Up Next | The Purple and Gold conclude non-league play under the lights at SIUE before the Summit League opener at Omaha on Saturday (Oct. 5).
