YORKTOWN, Ind. — Freshman Natalie Hooper kept up her stellar start to the season for Western Illinois women's golf on the final day of the Cardinal Classic. Ball State won its own event at The Players Club on Tuesday (Sept. 17), while the Leathernecks finished in 10th place with a team score of 946.

"It was great to see good scores from our freshmen," graduate assistant coach Brodie Dakin said. "We didn't quite reach our scoring goals from the weekend. There's still room for improvement as we work on short game and mental focus heading into next week."

Hooper collected her best score of the event with a 75 in round three for a combined 230 (+14). The effort landed Hooper her first collegiate 'Top-20' finish. Katie Tanner and Katy Schmitt both wrapped up play with a three-round total of 239 (+23).

Cassidy Jurkaites and Adriana Garcia Martin both turned in a score of 246 (+30) over the span of three rounds. As an individual, Nicole Hamilton-Cross shot an 82 on the final day for a 241 (+25) total.

The Leathernecks return to action on Monday (Sept. 23) at the MVC Fall Preview hosted by Northern Iowa in Burlington, Iowa.
