Leathernecks Play Host to Iowa Wesleyan Tuesday

The Leathernecks will take to Alfred D. Boyer Stadium for the first time this season.

Western's Last Outing: The Leathernecks homered in all three games of their Summit League opening weekend against South Dakota State, capturing a 10-6 victory in game two on the bat of CJ Schaeffer Jr.'s walk-off grand slam. 

•    Drue Galassi homered twice in the finale to score all four runs in the 7-4 loss; Deion Thompson sent a 2-RBI shot to pull Western within a run in the ninth inning of game one's 7-6 setback 
•    Steve McShane hit a team-best .444 on the weekend with four hits and five runs
•    The Leathernecks went 4-for-5 in stolen bases
•    Austin Emanuel (3.1 IP) and Justin Foy (4.2 IP) each pitched in game three, surrendering a pair of hits each

Game Winners: CJ Schaeffer Jr. has three game-winners in his senior campaign, and the latest occurred in walk-off fashion against South Dakota State. 

Game Winner No. 1 (at Southeast Missouri) | RBI single to right center broke a 2-2 stalemate in the 11th inning; Western won, 5-2. 

Game Winner No. 2 (at Saint Louis) | Sent a two-out RBI single up the middle in the eighth inning of WIU's 5-4 win at SLU

Game Winner No. 3 (vs. South Dakota State) | First career grand slam helped Western to a 10-6 walk-off win 

Summit Standings: Leatherneck pitchers are currently 'Top 10' in several Summit League categories.

They'll Run: The Leathernecks have never been shy on the base paths, and currently lead The Summit League with 25 stolen bases. 

Drue Galassi, Deion Thompson and Steve McShane each manage five swipes, and Thompson is perfect in the effort. On the opposite side of the equation, catcher CJ Schaeffer Jr. has caught nine runners stealing and guides The Summit in the category. 

On Deck: The Leathernecks play host to North Dakota State in a three-game series beginning Friday at 3 p.m.
