Spring Break Continues with Two at Arkansas

The Leathernecks will meet the 2018 College World Series runner-up Tuesday and Wednesday.

Western Illinois (4-8) at Arkansas (12-2)

Game Times:  Tuesday (6:30 p.m.); Wednesday (3:00 p.m.)

Western's Last Outing: The Leathernecks claimed a series win at Saint Louis behind 3-0 and 5-4 decisions in Friday's doubleheader. 

•    Western was outhit 25-15 but was led at the plate by Drue Galassi (4-for-10, 2 RBI, 1 R)
•    Javin Drake received the win in the shutout victory (8.0 IP, 6 H, career-high 10 K)
•    Jace Warkentien appeared in all three games and earned two saves. In 5.2 innings, he didn't allow a single run while fanning eight. 

Hot Start: With a pair of series wins, the Leathernecks (4-8) are off to their best nonconference start in seven seasons. The team took two out of three at Southeast Missouri and Saint Louis. 

Summit Standings: Leatherneck pitchers are currently top three in several Summit League categories.

They'll Run: The Leathernecks have never been shy on the base paths, currently leading The Summit League with 20 stolen bases. 

Drue Galassi manages a team-high five swipes, which ranks second in the league, while Thompson is a perfect 4-for-4 and Steve McShane 3-for-4. On the opposite side of the equation, catcher CJ Schaeffer Jr. has caught six runners stealing so far and guides The Summit in the category. 

On Deck: After starting its 2019 season on a 14-game road swing, Western takes to Alfred D. Boyer Stadium for the first time in a Summit League-opening set against South Dakota State. The series begins Friday at 3 p.m.
