DeBois Named to Academic All-American Second Team

Out of 34 members, Ryan DeBois was one of 11 recipients that boasted a perfect 4.0 GPA.

AUSTIN, Texas - The 2019 season was one to remember for Ryan DeBois not only on the field but off as he was named to the 2019 Academic All-American second team by the College of Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the organization announced Thursday (Dec. 5). 

Out of the 34 members on the Academic All-America Division 1 men's soccer teams, DeBois was one of 11 recipients that boasted a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Heading into the 2019 campaign, he did not record a goal for the Western. Now DeBois finished as the team leader and second in The Summit League with seven in only 12 shots on frame. The native of Maple Grove, Minn., has scored in seven of the last nine matches en route to a team-high 14 points.

The management major led Western Illinois in the sweep of the League Player of the Week awards for the first time since 2016. A breakout season for DeBois, found the back of the net in each Summit League contest.
