Kick-off |
With Summit League play coming to an end, each game has an important factor for the final spots for The Summit League Tournament as the Western Illinois women's soccer team host Oral Roberts Sunday (Oct. 27) at 1 p.m.

Senior Send-Off | For Emily Bollman, Madison Bulin, Kayla McCormick, Natalie Sielaff, Ines Palmiero Herrera, and Maddie Wilsey, Sunday's match will mark their final outings at John MacKenzie Alumni Field.

Last Time Out | The Western Illinois women's soccer (6-9-1, 2-4-0) jumped on the board first, but two second-half goals from the North Dakota State Bison (7-5-3, 2-1-2) gave way for a 2-1 defeat on Sunday (Oct. 20) afternoon.

Right into the second half, NDSU tied it 1-1 at the 48th minute. The Bison made it a 2-1 contest and took their first lead of the game in the 63rd-minute mark from Danielle Algera.

The English connection linked together for a one-two pass inside the box to give Western a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute. Zoe Clarke played Amy Andrews as she tapped the ball in for her team-leading sixth goal of the season.

WIU nearly tied late in the second half when they earned a free kick on the top of the 18-yard box. Clarke fired a shot headed for the lower right corner, but Monica Polgar dove to maintain the Bison 2-1 lead.

With less than 30 seconds left in the match, the Leathernecks had another late chance on a free-kick just outside the box as the ball bounced around the box before NSDU cleared it out.

In The League | So far in 2019 campaign, a trio of Leathernecks see their names in the Summit League ranks. On the offensive side of the ball, Cassidy Grunewald is tied for second with three assists, and Amy Andrews is tied for fourth with six goals. Rounding out the squad, Ines Palmiero Herrera is third with 75 saves.

Shots, shots, Everybody | Fourteen different players have fired a shot while wearing the Purple and Gold this season compared to only four who haven't. Zoe Clarke (37), Amy Andrews (37), Jenna Lundgren (22), and Emily Bollman (18) set the pace for WIU.

Reunited | Current graduate assistant coach, Nykosi Simmons, reunites with her former teammate and assistant coach Josee Primeau. The duo made a significant impact on the program at Mississippi Valley State. The four-year starters were selected to the SWAC Top 20 Players list, along with earning Most Valuable Player and the MVSU Female Athlete of the Year award.

Between the Pipes | Goalkeeper Ines Palmiero Herrera has continued to climb the ranks in the record book. On Sept. 23, she became fourth all-time in career saves against UNI and chases Victoria Kappel (274) for third all-time. Her seventh career shutout and fourth of the season moved her to third all-time in a season tying Meghan Tyk (2007). She stopped all five shots Purdue Fort Wayne had as she now is only one more win away from passing Samantha Clark (2006) for fifth all-time.

Scouting the Golden Eagles | Oral Roberts travels to Macomb with a 4-8-3 overall record and 1-2-2 in League play. Jordan Langebartels and Drishana Pillay each have totaled five goals. The Golden Eagles have played in three overtime games in Summit League play so far to earn a 1-2-0 mark..
