MACOMB, Ill. – Senior quarterback Sean McGuire was named Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced today (Sept. 30). The Franklin, Wis. native put together his second 300-yard passing game of the season to go along with five total touchdowns.

He finished Saturday's game against YSU 22-for-34 with four passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown.  After tossing fourscores on Saturday, he currently ties for No. 1 all-time in Western's career history with 62 passing touchdowns.

The day began when McGuire found Adam Conrady for an 8-yard score in the first quarter with 10:43, before a two-yard scamper that put Western Illinois up 16-7.

McGuire connected with Khalen Saunders for a 3-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter that extended the Leatherneck lead to 30-10. With 8:06 in the fourth quarter, McGuire scrambled outside of the pocket and fired a rocket down the right side of the field that went over the defender's head into Isaiah Lesure's hand for a touchdown. The senior finished his impressive day with a 32-yard dime to Clint Ratkovich down the sideline to put the Leathernecks up 45-24.

The award is McGuire's third of his career, after collecting an Offensive Player of the Week each of the last two seasons. The Leathernecks continue their 2018 slate at Illinois State on Oct. 6. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
