Brown’s Storied Career Ends at NCAA West Prelims

Jasmine Brown qualified for the triple jump event as one of the top field athletes in the nation and recorded an 11.93-meter effort.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. Jasmine Brown's storied Western Illinois career came to an end Saturday (May 26) in her fourth appearance at the NCAA West Preliminary. The exercise science graduate qualified for the triple jump event as one of the top field athletes in the nation and recorded an 11.93-meter effort (39' 1.75").

Brown leaves WIU as its record holder in both the long jump and triple jump events. She set the former record with a mark of 6.08 meters (19' 11.75") and the latter in 13.20 meters (43' 3.75"). She is an All-American, a Summit League champion, an all-league selection, and an academic all-league honoree. On top of all of those accolades, she is also the first woman in Western Illinois history to be named the Summit League's Athlete of the Year.

Notching her season's best performance at the Summit League Championships earlier this month, Brown earned a spot at the NCAA meet with a fourth-place triple jump of 12.66 meters (41' 6.5").
