Leatherneck Track and Field Win Seven Events at Roger Haynes Invitational

MACOMB,IL – Western Illinois track and field recorded seven event victories and numerous top-three finishes Saturday at the Roger Haynes Invitational.

Rhianna Davis continued her strong freshman season with a win in the women's 60 meters, clocking 7.87 after posting the top qualifying time in prelims. Finley Hancock led a 1-2 finish in the women's 800 meters, capturing the title in 2:23.06, followed closely by Linnea Bloom in 2:23.69.

The Leathernecks were especially strong in the field events. Toriano Tate won the men's long jump with a mark of 7.13 meters (23-4.75). Nathan McLoughlin cleared 4.90 meters (16-0.75) to take first in the men's pole vault, while Kelly Fern claimed the women's pole vault title at 3.45 meters (11-3.75). Rayvon Wright won the men's triple jump with a leap of 13.78 meters (45-2.50), and Nakeita Kessling captured the women's triple jump at 11.16 meters (36-7.50). The women's triple jump group added depth with Kelsey Hutchins finishing second and Yoanny Espinoza placing third.

On the track, Kenneth Cooley placed third in the men's 60 meters (7.06) and added a fourth-place finish in the 200 meters (22.79). Nyla Norman earned a runner-up finish in the women's 200 meters (26.01), while Lily Patterson finished second in the women's 3,000 meters. The women's 4x400-meter relay team also secured a second-place finish.

The Leathernecks will look to build off of the two meets this weekend going into next week at the Iowa Open.
