Brown Qualifies for NCAA West Prelims

For the fourth time in her career, Jasmine Brown will be heading to the NCAA West Prelims.

MACOMB, Ill. – Competing against the nation's best triple jumpers, Jasmine Brown will continue her collegiate career at the NCAA West Preliminary, the organization announced Thursday (May 17). She qualified for the meet for the fourth time in her career and will be Western Illinois' lone representative this season.

The preliminary round is scheduled for May 24-26 at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, California. Brown punched her ticket to the event in Western's final meet of the season – The Summit League Championships. She narrowly missed medaling with a fourth place performance, but the mark was her best this outdoor season (12.66 meters / 41' 6.5").

Brown joins 47 declared athletes in the triple jump which is scheduled to take place Saturday, May 26, at 4:30 p.m. A top-12 finish will allow her to advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., on June 6-9.
