Women’s Basketball Signs Carla Flores

The Barcelona, Spain native will join Western Illinois for the 2018-19 season.

MACOMB, Ill. — Western Illinois head women's basketball coach JD Gravina announced the signing Carla Flores Wednesday (April 11) for the 2018-19 season.

"We are really excited to add Carla to our 2018 recruiting class," said Gravina. "She is a national level player in Spain, and will be a perfect fit for our playing style. She plays the game with a smoothness and confidence that will be great in our transition motion offense."

A native of Barcelona, Spain, the 5-feet-10-inch 12th grader currently plays for the Spanish National Team, which she has been a part of for the past three seasons. In 2015-16, her team captured the gold medal at the U16 European Championship, which was held in Italy.

Flores also played for the Liga Femenina Team, as well as being a three-year member of the club team State of Cataluña. During her time playing club league, her team earned a championship (2016-17) and finished runner-up (2015-16) the year prior.
