Dunne Named Summit League Pitcher of the Week

Ryan Dunne earned his first career Pitcher of the Week honor after a successful outing vs. NDSU.

ELMHURST, Ill.Ryan Dunne crowned a successful outing on the mound versus North Dakota State with The Summit League Pitcher of the Week award, the league announced Monday (March 19).

He secured his first conference honor after surrendering a season-low three hits and no earned runs against NDSU Sunday. Dunne didn't allow a hit through the first five innings of play, and finished the game with seven strikeouts.

The appearance marked back-to-back, eight-inning games for the senior righty.

"Obviously, Ryan deserves the recognition," said head coach Ryan Brownlee. "When you look at his last two starts, he's got a 1.12 ERA in 16 innings pitched. He has struck out nine and only walked three, while giving up two earned runs. He's just been really dominant, and could easily be 2-0 in those two games. He's gotten better every time out, and now he has to just continue to progress and maintain what he's been doing. I'm happy for him. He's a hardworking kid and good teammate, and deserves the accolades he's getting right now."

Omaha infielder Braden Rogers was named the Summit League Player of the Week, and his teammate Spencer Koelewyn joined Dunne with pitching honors.
