Basketball Promotion Schedule Announced

The promotions will begin this Saturday (Nov. 10) and continue throughout the season

MACOMB, Ill. – Western Illinois men's and women's basketball promotion schedule has been announced today (Nov. 6). The 2018-19 slate will feature giveaways, Educator Appreciation Nights, Basketball Camper Reunion Dates and Sunday Fundays.

Western Illinois opens its home schedule with on Tuesday (Nov. 6) when the women's team plays host against No. 16 Missouri at 8 p.m. The night's theme will be "Pack it Purple" where fans are encouraged to wear purple. The men's home-opener will be on Saturday (Nov. 10) against North Park at 2 p.m. The women's team will play host to Drake 30 minutes after the conclusion of the men's contest. The double header is designated as Military Appreciation Day as the Leathernecks "Salute Servicemen and Women." There will be free admission for fans with a valid military ID and discounted $5 adult and $3 youth general admission tickets for their family members.

The promotions continue throughout the season, including a 3-Point Contest at halftime of the men's game against SIUE (Nov. 28), and aĀ  "Sunday Spectacular" when the women play host to Austin Peay on Dec. 12. Fans are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite Disney character and a few lucky fans will be chosen to compete in a "Do You Want to Build a Snowman" race at halftime.

As a new addition to the 2018-19 slate, the women's basketball team will host a "National Girls and Women in Sports Day" basketball clinic for girls between 6 and 12 on a date that will be determined. All participants will be invited back to the women's contest on February 1st to be recognized.

All year long, Leatherneck student-athletes will be competing against other schools in The Summit League to see which school can collect the most canned goods by the end of the year. Come out for #SummitFoodFight ChallengeĀ nights on Friday (Feb. 1) at 7 p.m. and Saturday (Feb. 2) 7 p.m. to take advantage of our five-for-five deal: bring five canned goods to the game and get a $5 general admission ticket.

As part of connecting with the Macomb community, kids will have the opportunity for up close and personal game day experiences such as being a Ball Kid during the game or participating in a High-Five Tunnel. More information can be found on the promotional calendar page.
