Brett Taylor, Jacob Judd Named STATS Preseason All-America

Taylor tabbed First Team while Judd voted Second Team

MACOMB, Ill. – Brett Taylor (Macomb/Macomb HS) picked up another preseason national honor while fellow senior Jacob Judd (Clinton, IA/Clinton HS) earned his first national accolade as the two Leatherneck football standouts represented Western Illinois as STATS FCS Preseason All-America selections.

Taylor, a senior linebacker, received his second First Team Preseason All-America leading into the 2017 campaign while Judd, a two-year starter on the offensive line, picked up his first national preseason accolade. They are two of the team's four captains this year.

Both represented the Leathernecks on the preseason All-Missouri Valley Football Conference team. They were two of the 17 MVFC representatives selected by STATS.

Taylor was tabbed as one of the preseason 'Top 10' players in the FCS by STATS last month. He led the Leathernecks during his junior year making 134 total tackles (94 solos). His 8.5 solo tackles per game led all NCAA Division I FCS players and his 12.2 tackles per game ranked third in the country. He begins his final year with 307 career tackles, good for 11th place on the WIU all-time list, and his 198 career solo tackles currently ranks him sixth all-time.

Judd earned Second Team All-MVFC honors for the second straight year, and Western's starting center brings a streak of 24 consecutive starts into the 2017 season. Judd and Western's offense ended the 2016 regular season ranked 22nd nationally in fewest tackles for a loss allowed and 31st in sacks allowed.
