Former WIU Softball Standout Sammy Marshall Earns NPF 'Player of the Week' Honor

Marshall Earned the honor for her efforts from June 1-11 for the Chicago Bandits.

HERMITAGE, Tenn. — Former Western Illinois softball standout and current National Pro Fastpitch athlete Sammy Marshall earned 'Player of the Week' honors for her performances with the Chicago Bandits from June 1-11.
 
Marshall, who is the third WIU softball player ever after being drafted in April of 2016, went 4-for-5 in multi-hit games and was 2-for-2 on stolen bases. She recorded nine singles, a double, a triple and a home run, and led the league in batting average, runs scored, hits and total bases.
 
The former Leatherneck is the all-time hits leader at Western Illinois, and she also broke the program and Summit League record for career batting average. Marshall is also the program record holder for the most runs in a career.
