Brown Garners Academic All-Summit League Honor

The junior was also named All-Summit League and holds a 3.62 GPA.

ELMHURST, Ill. — Junior Jasmine Brown was voted to Academic All-Summit League Honors for her performances on the field and in the classroom during the 2017 outdoor track and field season.
 
To be eligible for The Summit League Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions.  The Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field All-League teams are made up of the 10 student-athletes receiving the most votes with all ties standing.

The Academic All-League Teams are voted by the institution's faculty athletics representatives and sports information directors. A total of 20 student-athletes, 10 men and 10 women, were named to the team and honored for their combined athletic and academic performances this season.
 
"Jasmine Brown works as hard in the classroom as she does in her events. It shows with her outstanding GPA and her outstanding performances in her sport," said head coach Mike Stevenson. "She makes the coaches, team, athletic department and university very proud with what she has accomplished." 
 
Brown, who holds a 3.62 GPA as an Exercise Science major, earned her second-career Outdoor Track and Field All-Summit League honor in the long jump and triple jump, along with another berth in the 2017 NCAA West Prelims.
 
The junior from DeKalb, Ill., ranked first in The Summit League for the women's triple jump, and she is also the program's current record holder for the event (43'3.75"). She also broke her own two-year record in the long jump this season, with a total of 19'11.75" for a runner-up finish at The Summit League Outdoor Championships.
