SAINT LOUIS, Mo. – The Western Illinois women's tennis team took on Saint Louis in a Saturday evening matchup on March 4. The Leathernecks were unable to secure the victory, falling 7-0. With the loss, Western falls to 6-9 on the year.
In singles play,
Courtney Lubbers fell 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 1 position.
Natalia Bravo (6-0, 6-0) and
Anna Daniel Fuentes (6-0, 6-3) also dropped their respective matches at No. 2 and 3 singles.
Laura Ballesteros lost her match by a score of 5-7, 6-3, 10-4 at the No. 4 spot, as did
Jenna Wallace (6-3, 6-2) at No. 5 and
Cary Milanes (6-5, 6-0) at the No. 6 spot.
The Leathernecks were also topped in doubles play. Lubbers and Wallace fell 6-0 in No. 1 doubles, as did Milanes and Daniel Fuentes in No. 3 (6-3). Bravo and Ballesteros fell 6-0.
The Purple and Gold continue the season next Saturday, March 11 at 6:15 p.m. against Missouri-Saint Louis.
