Brown, Henle Post First-Place Finishes At Southern Illinois Invitational

The Leathernecks posted multiple top-10 performances.

CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Western Illinois track and field team posted an impressive performance in the women's field events at the Southern Illinois Invitational (March 25).

In the women's javelin, Annika Henle posted a first-place effort with a total of 39.50 (129'7.50"). Allison Richter rounded out the Leathernecks with another top-10 performance in the javelin, finishing ninth with a distance of 34.62 meters (133'7.25").

Jasmine Brown took home first in the triple jump, leaping a total of 12.38 meters (40'7.50"). Brown also posted a top-5 performance in the long jump, finishing third overall with a distance of 5.38 meters (19'1.50"). Ashley Graham and Bo Braseur also finished in the top-10 for the Purple and Gold in the long jump. Graham jumped a total of 5.22 meters (17'1.50") for eighth, while Brasseur finished 10th with a distance of 5.20 meters (17'0.75).

Michaela Busch notched a third-place finish in the high jump, with a height of 1.61 meters. In the women's shotput, Jasmine Swanagan threw a total of 12.91 meters (42'4.25") to finish sixth, and Abbi Smith finished 10th in the hammer throw with a distance of 43.53 meters (142'10.0").

On the men's side, Bradley Walls posted a top-10 performance in the hammer, heaving a total of 47.25 meters (155'0.50").

Western Illinois now shifts its focus to the Big Blue Classic in Charleston, Ill. Competition will take place March 31 through April 1 at Eastern Illinois University.
