SOUTH BEND, Ind. & CARBONDALE, Ill. –
The Western Illinois track and field team set four new all-time top-ten marks on Saturday (Feb. 4), as they competed on the second day of both the Meyo Invitational and the Don DeNoon Invitational.

Following a program record performance in the 600 yesterday evening, Alyssa Johnson moved up to fourth all-time in the 800-meters with a new personal best of 2:13.17 at the Meyo Invitational.

Johnson then helped the 4x400-meter relay team comprised of Kaliyah Cobb, Bo Brasseur and Sierra Woods race to a time of 3:53.53, the fifth fastest time in Western Illinois history.

Khalyia Lawson leapt to a personal best of 39-3 1/4 (11.97m) in the triple jump to move herself up to fourth all-time in program history. That mark was good enough for her to be placed ninth overall.

Freshman Josh Kirby landed himself in the Western Illinois record book after running 8.28 in the 60-meter hurdles to rank second all-time at the Don DeNoon Invitational.

In the first event of the day at the Don DeNoon Invitational, Malachi Adams clocked a time of 6.98 in the 60-meter dash, good for fourth all-time in the WIU record books. His personal best of 6.79 ranks second all-time.

Grant Kaiser and Lucas Lingle led the way in the mile, as they each raced to lifetime personal bests of 4:29.91 and 4:32.50, respectively.

Allison Richter was the Leathernecks' top finisher in the shot put, tossing a new personal record of 43-6 1/2 (13.27m).

Josh Thomas also qualified for finals in the 60-meter hurdles after running a new season best of 8.49. He also placed eighth in his first 400 of the season with a time of 51.45.

Josh Pestka came in eighth in the 800 with a time of 1:58.13. Charles Morrow recorded a top-five finish in the 200, clocking a time of 22.88. Madison Lefler ran a season-best time of 11:03.47 in the 3,000 to lead Western in the distance events.

The Purple and Gold will split squads again next week at the GVSU Invitational and the Fighting Scot Invitational on Feb. 10-11.
