Men’s Soccer Garners Four To Academic All-League Selections

Fernando Pacheco, Alejandro Pacheco, Ben Fiddes and Tim Trilk all earned Academic All-League honors.

ELMHURST, Ill.— Western Illinois men's soccer players Fernando Pacheco, Alejandro Pacheco, Ben Fiddes and Tim Trilk all earned Academic All-Summit League Honors, as announced Nov. 29.

Fernando Pacheco is coming off a season where he earned back-to-back All-Summit League Second Team honors at forward, and this award marks his third straight Academic All-League award. He is also a First Team CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree this season, as one of 11 recipients across the region of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio to be named to the award. A Business Administration major, he currently holds a 3.79 GPA. Pacheco was also a Summit League Offensive Player of the Week in 2017.

Fellow teammate and brother Alejandro Pacheco also earned Second Team All-League honors this season, as well as garnering his first-career Academic All-League award. He was also named to the All-Tournament Team this season. He also netted Summit League Offensive Player of the Week honors in 2017. He holds a 3.54 GPA and is majoring in Business Management.

Ben Fiddes, who earned All-Summit League Second Team Honors in 2016 and was named to the All-Tournament Team this season, earned his second-career Academic All-League honor, as he holds a 3.73 GPA and a Business Marketing major.

Lastly, sophomore goalkeeper Tim Trilk earned his first-career Academic All-League award following a performance in 2017 that saw him earn Summit League 'Defensive Player of the Week' twice this season.
