Fernando Pacheco Garners CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team Honor

Senior named to the honor for his achievements on the field and in the classroom

MACOMB, Ill. — Western Illinois senior Fernando Pacheco (La Piedad, Michoacan, Mexico/Iowa City) was named to the College of Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® Men's Soccer First Team, the organization announced Thursday (Nov. 9).

Pacheco was one of 11 recipients across the region of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio to be named as a First Team honoree. A business administration major, he currently holds a 4.0 GPA.

First Team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where First, Second and Third Team All-America honorees will be announced in December.

Pacheco also garnered his second consecutive Second Team All-League honor to cap off a stellar regular season that included an 'Offensive Player of the Week' award (Sept. 18). He capped off the 2017 regular season campaign with seven goals (tied for fourth in the league) and 15 points (tied for fifth). He is also aiming for his third straight All-Summit League Academic honor.
