Football Adds Another Recruit to 2016 Class

Leathernecks announce addition of Alijah Burno

MACOMB, Ill. – Western Illinois Football announced another addition to the 2016 signing class as defensive lineman Alijah Burno (Harrisburg, PA/Trinity Pawling School) will join this fall. Head coach Charlie Fisher announced the newest addition, increasing the total to 18 recruits for the 2016 season.
 
The 6-4, 270 pound high school senior recorded 40 tackles, 10 sacks and 15 tackles for a loss his senior year. He earned First Team All-Erickson League honors as both an offensive lineman and defensive lineman.
 
ALIJAH BURNO (6-1, 275, DL)
HIGH SCHOOL: Four-year letterwinner in football and started all four years... named one of the 'Top 25 Mid-State linemen and Top 25 Pennsylvania Preps Mid-Penn Recruit… Mid-Penn Defensive MVP nominee… First Team All-Erickson League on the offensive and defensive line… won the Trinity Pawling School Gatchell Sportsmanship Award winner… recorded 10 sacks, 15 tackles for a loss, one fumble recovery, three pass deflections and 40 tackles his senior year… as a junior had six sacks, 12 tackles for a loss, one interception, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, one pass deflection and 40 tackles… played for coach Nick Lafontaine… PERSONAL: Born February 16, 1997 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania… No. 1 sports highlight was his first high school interception and fumble recovery in the same game… his two older brothers have been a major influence, "I grew up watching them and they always pushed me to be better than them and everyone else."… most admires Aaron Donald, "He plays with a high motor while making big plays, and he's around my size."… enjoys basketball, music, watching TV, Google research, sneaker shop and video games… favorite professional teams are the Pittsburgh Steelers and Miami Heat… favorite music is Drake, Meek, Fabolous and Young Jeezy… son of Ardee Jr. and Tammy Burno… MAJOR: Kinesiology
