FINAL RESULTS

MACOMB, Ill. – Western Illinois wrapped up action in the 2015 Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Championships Friday afternoon (May 15) with the men's side earning a fourth-place finish (73 points) and the women's team placing sixth (40 points).

"We did about as good as we could," said head coach Mike Stevenson. "We have some good athletes on the team, but we just don't have the depth that some of those other teams have."

The men's 4x100 team made up of Charles Marrow, Xavier Levy, Tyler Younkin and Justin Kilpatrick highlighted day three by finishing in 40.73 and earning The Summit League title.

"The men's team ended up in fourth place, which is better then what they were seeded heading in," continued Stevenson. "Probably the highlight of the day was Justin (Kilpatrick). We won the 4x100 and he anchored it well, and then he recorded a personal best in the 200 and unseeded me on WIU's all-time 'Top 10' list. So it was great, he did a great job and it was a perfect way to finish off his senior year."

Kilpatrick also finished second in the 200-meter dash (21.39) and third in the 100 meter dash (10.69).

Finishing close behind Kilpatrick in both the 100 and 200 was Levy who took third in the 200-meter dash (21.41) and fourth in the 100-meter dash (10.82).

Jasmine Brown and Cedric Cheeks each finished second in the women's and men's triple jumps. Brown leaped a distance of 12.55 meters, while Cheeks recorded a career-best distance of 14.09 meters.

Both the men's and women's 4x400 relay teams finished in fourth place. The men's team made up of Justin Kilpatrick, Xavier Levy, Daniel Ingram and Tyler Younkin finished in 3:14.00, while the women's squad consisting of Alyssa Johnson, Myelle Vann, Katelyn Rhea and Aaliyah White tallied a time of 3:49.36.

In the women's 800-meter run, Alyssa Johnson finished in 2:11.42 and recorded a fourth-place finish.

"On the women's side we only finished with 40 points. We had a disqualification that really hurt us because we were only three points out of fifth place. We feel like if things would have went a little better in a couple areas we could have finished in fifth. We had some kids that stepped up. Jasmine (Brown) did her usual thing and jumped well, so she will be headed to the first round of the NCAA championships. Alyssa Johnson also had another great week, so we're moving in the right direction, it's just going to take some time to get our numbers were they need to be," concluded Stevenson.
