Jamario Taylor Named Summit League's 'Field Athlete of the Year'

The award comes after Taylor's 12th place finish in the high jump at the NCAA Championships.

ELMHURST, Ill. - Western Illinois' Jamario Taylor was named The Summit League's 'Field Athlete of the Year,' the league office announced on Wednesday (June 25).

Taylor ended his career with a 12th place finish at the NCAA Championships in the high jump (7' 0.5") following his third consecutive conference title in the high jump.

The Aurora, Ill. native set a program record earlier this season, clearing 7' 2.5," good for 15th best in the nation at the time.

Taylor became the first male Leatherneck in program history to be named an All-American during the outdoor season and the first men's athlete to gain those honors in either indoor or outdoor season.
