GALESBURG, Ill. – Western Illinois picked up a victory in doubles play, but eventually fell to Denver 7-0 in Summit League play. The matched was moved indoors to the Lakeside Tennis Center in Galesburg.
The Leathernecks dropped to 1-14 overall and 0-5 in Summit League play while Denver improved to 7-9 and 2-0.
Brandon Meeker and Mitch Granger defeated No. 62 ranked Diogo Rocha and Aidan Talcott in a tie-breaker, winning 8-7 (7-5). However, the Leathernecks dropped the number one and three doubles match and lost the point.
Rocha won the number one singles match versus Christoph Haertel 6-2, 6-2. Granger fell in the number two singles 6-4, 6-4.
After losing the first set 6-1, Max Cederkall won the second set 6-3. He lost a tie-break to Alex Clinkenbeard 10-5.
Meeker was swept in his number four singles. Chris Bunch lost 6-1, 6-0 and Brett Furmanski lost 6-3, 6-0 at the sixth singles spot.
