GALESBURG, Ill. - The Western Illinois men's tennis team wrapped up regular season play Sunday with a 5-2 victory over the visiting Chicago State Cougars. The match, which was originally slated to be played in Macomb, was moved to Galesburg, Ill. due to rain.
Senior Brett Furmanski was honored before the match as the men's tennis program celebrated senior day.

The match began with doubles competition where the Leathernecks edged the Cougars, 2-1, to earn the doubles decision.
WIU's No. 1 doubles combo of Christoph Haertel and Max Cederkall won, 8-7, while Mitch Granger and Brandon Meeker downed CSU's No. 2 doubles squad, 8-5.
In singles action, Furmanski (7-6, 7-5), Haertel (6-2, 6-4), and Chris Bunch (6-2, 6-2) each swept their opponents.
Mitch Granger also earned a point for the Leathernecks in singles play. After dropping his first set 6-4, Granger earned back-to-back wins, 6-2 and 6-1.
Western (2-15 overall) has a two week break in competition before heading to Denver for the 2014 Summit League Championships April 25-27.
