MACOMB, Ill. - Head Coach Mike Villano and his staff including recruiting coordinator/assistant coach Shane Davis, assistant coaches Cooper Stewart and Mike Vucsko announced the addition of two student-athletes to the baseball roster for 2013.
Tanner Glore is added to the roster after spending two seasons at Mineral Area CC, the same JUCO as senior starting pitcher Dustin Hunter. Glore hit over .440 both seasons and drove in a combined 78 runs in his time with the Cardinals.
Payton Jeffers joins the Purple & Gold out of Sherman, Ill. and Williamsville High School. Payton's father, Steve, played for Coach Dick Pawlow from 1982-86.
Steve Jeffers holds the career record for triples in a career with 14 while being named First Team All-Conference in 1985 and 1986, All-Tournament Team in 1986 and Tournament MVP in 1986.

Tanner Glore joins the Leathernecks out of Mineral Point, Mo. and Mineral Area CC. This season, Glore is hitting .455 with 35 RBI on 45 hits including 13 doubles and three triples.
As a freshman, Glore hit .448 with 43 RBI, eight home runs and 20 stolen bases. He was named First Team MCCAC as well as Academic All-Conference. Glore was selected to the First Team All-Region XVI team as a freshman.
In high school Glore was named First Team All-Conference, All-Region as a junior and a senior. During his junior season he hit .453 with 28 RBI and a .680 on-base percentage. In addition, after his junior campaign he was named second team All-State.
As a senior, Glore hit .557 with a .740 on-base percentage and 31 RBI. Selected to the KTJJ Dream Team and was a First Team All-State selection. Glore was also a Second Team All-State football selection.
Coach Villano: "We are excited to have Tanner join our program next fall. He has a
reputation as one of the more feared hitters in his region, and his
presence should be felt immediately. He is a physical and athletic kid
that will fit nicely into the middle of our lineup. It is always nice
to find someone that can put up both the power and speed numbers that he
has over the last two years. His ability to play on the the corners
will is exactly what we need. "

Payton Jeffers joins the Leatherneck baseball program out of Sherman, Ill. and Williamsville High School. Jeffers was named First Team All-Conference during his sophomore and junior seasons. Selected for State Journal-Register Classic Area All-Star Team as a junior. He hit .423 with 29 RBI as a sophomore and .418 and 22 RBI as a junior.
Coach Villano: "Jeffers is an athletic infielder that will bring a lot of energy, defense, desire and competitive fire to our baseball family while excelling in the classroom. Both of his parents are Western Illinois graduates and his father was a member of the baseball program. That is the kind of connection and pride we want to bring to Leatherneck Baseball. We are excited to see him progress and add to the success of the program as we continue to improve over the next few years."
