MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois women's tennis dropped its home opener 7-0 to Northern Illinois on Saturday (March 31). The loss brings the Leathernecks to 0-10 overall and 0-3 in conference play.

Freshman Ashley Rettger was the only Leatherneck to record a point in the match, but was defeated 6-0, 6-1 in No. 1 singles play. The Huskies recorded 6-0, 6-0 shut out wins at No. 2 through No. 6 singles.

In doubles play, Western Illinois dropped each match 8-0 to round out scoring and solidify the final 7-0 score. The victory brings the Huskies to a 9-7 overall mark on the year.

The Fighting Leathernecks are back in action on Monday (April 2) at home. They are set to take on Monmouth College at 4 p.m.
