SAINT LOUIS, Mo. - The Western Illinois women's tennis team returned to the court following a two-week break and dropped a 7-0 decision to Saint Louis Friday night (February 10) inside the Sunset Tennis Center.
Freshman Ashley Rettger fell 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 1 singles position. She also teamed with Jessica Callahan at No. 1 doubles and the duo dropped an 8-1 decision to Jenny Nalepa and Maria Toro Moreno.
Callahan played at the No. 2 singles flight was defeated in straight sets while junior Megan Pazdernick was defeated 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 3 position. Pazdernick and junior Jessica Theobald competed at the No. 2 doubles slot and lost 8-0 to Stephanie Hollis and Brooke Urzendowski.
Sophomores Juliette Schwartz and Roxana Stancioiu fell in straight sets at the No. 5 and No. 6 spots, respectively. The pair also teamed up at No. 3 doubles and fell 8-0 to Mia Elmore and Madeline Jolly.
Western Illinois back in action Saturday (February 18) as the Fighting Leathernecks travel to Waterloo, Iowa for a match against Northern Iowa. Play at the Black Hawk Tennis Club begins at 10 a.m.
