SPRING PRACTICE SCHEDULE
#1 Friday, March 25
The spring football practice opener meant a chance at getting back to the fundamentals for the Western Illinois squad. Spring drills opened Friday afternoon (March 25) with a two hour workout.
#2 Saturday, March 26The calendar may say spring, but temperatures were below freezing with the wind chill as the Western Illinois Football squad went through their second workout. The morning practice at Hanson Field allowed Western to get its work in prior to the forecasted precipitation.
#3 Monday, March 28
Spring practice number three marked the first in full pads for the Western Illinois Leathernecks on Monday afternoon.
#4 Wednesday, March 30
Western Illinois went back to work to the football practice fields for spring session #4. The Leathernecks turned in another two hour workout in full pads.
#5 Friday, April 1
One day prior to the first spring scrimmage, Western Illinois worked out on the football practice fields for spring session No. 5. The Leathernecks turned in another two hour workout in full pads and will scrimmage tomorrow at 2 p.m.
#6 Saturday, April 2 - Scrimmage
In front of over 200 friends, family, alumni and fans, Western Illinois scrimmaged for the first time this spring at Rocky Stadium on the campus of Rock Island High School.
#7 Monday, April 4
Just two days after a scrimmage at Rock Island High School, Western Illinois worked out at Hanson Field for spring practice No. 7. The Leathernecks turned in a two hour workout in full pads that featured no tackling.
#8 Wednesday, April 6
Just three days before the second spring scrimmage, Western Illinois worked out in full pads for two hours at Hanson Field for spring practice No. 8.
#9 Friday, April 8
Western worked on new installation of offensive and defensive schemes during Friday afternoon's practice. The Leathernecks were making final preparations before their second scrimmage set for Saturday afternoon (April 9).
#10 Saturday, April 9 - Scrimmage
Western Illinois were in full pads for nearly two hours on a very warm Saturday afternoon at Naperville North HS.
#11 Friday, April 15
Weather cuts Friday's session short... the spring position preview looks at the tight ends.
#12 Monday, April 18
Western Illinois returned to action on Monday afternoon following a weekend off of spring practice drills. The Leathernecks kicked off the start to a busy week, the first of four sessions to close out spring. Practicing for just the second time in the last nine days, head coach Mark Hendrickson noted the team was ready to hit the fields again.
#13 Wednesday, April 20

Western Illinois nearly got all the way through spring football drills without using the indoor space of Brophy Hall, but rain throughout the day Friday forced the Leathernecks to do just that in the next to last spring practice.
