CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Western Illinois senior wide receiver Lito Senatus (Miami, Fla./Southeast) received the 2010 Elite Wide Receiver Award by College Football Performance Awards. The organization announced the Football Championship Subdivision award winners on Thursday (Jan. 13).
The All-America senior captain was one of three wide receivers to be recognized by the CFPA.
Senatus led the Leathernecks with 65 receptions totaling 1,145 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also rushed for a TD and completed two passes for 39 yards. His yards, receiving TDs, seven consecutive games with a touchdown catch and five consecutive 100-yard games all set Western season records. Those five 100-yard games in a year and one 200-yard game tied a Leatherneck record.
His 88.1 receiving yards per game this season narrowly ranked him second in the MVFC and 13th nationally. Eleven times in Western history two receivers both registered 100 yards in the same game. Senatus helped account for two occasions this year and three in his career. He also finished his career with a catch in 25 consecutive games, tying for the third-longest streak in program history.
In just three years, Senatus ended his Leatherneck career as the all-time leader with 21 touchdown receptions. He finished second all-time with 149 receptions and 2,269 yards.
He tied the career record with two 200-yard receiving games and was tied for third all-time with six 100-yard games.
Senatus and the Leathernecks finished the season 8-5, advancing to the Second Round of the FCS Playoffs. It was Western's first postseason appearance in seven years.
