ELMHURST, Ill. – Jason Summers (Kent, Wash./Jefferson) was named as an all-Summit League Second Team selection at the league's annual awards banquet, Wednesday, May 26.
Summers earned the honors after leading The Summit League with a .423 (77-for-182) batting average on the season. The senior also finished second on the team in RBI (46), tied for second in home runs (6) and was third in doubles (15).
He batted a blistering .459 (34-for-74) with six homers and 24 RBI against league opponents, including a six RBI performance in an 18-7 victory of then league-leading Centenary on May 17.
Summers also led the Fighting Leathernecks in slugging (.604) and on-base percentage (.509) and ended the season in a career-high 14-game hitting streak.
He ends his career after one of the most prolific seasons at the plate in school history finishing in the single season top ten in batting average, doubles and hits.
