Dinkelmann named Scholar Athlete of the Week

MACOMB, Ill. — Senior swimmer Laura Dinkelmann (Belleville, Ill./Mascoutah) has been named the Western Illinois Scholar-Athlete of the Week based on her performances in the pool and in the classroom.

Dinkelmann picked up two individual wins in a dual meet at Eastern Illinois Jan. 15, including her seventh win of the season in the 200-yard butterfly and her second win of the season in the 500-yard freestyle. Her time of 2:06.37 in the 200-fly broke the pool record at Eastern's Ray Padovan Pool by more than three seconds.

A double-major in psychology and sociology, Dinkelmann posted a 4.0 grade point average for the fall 2009 semester. She carries a cumulative GPA of 3.672.

Dinkelmann and the Western Illinois swimming and diving team welcome Wisconsin-Milwaukee to the Brophy Hall Pool for a dual meet at 3 p.m. Jan. 30.
