DES MOINES, Iowa- The Western Illinois men's tennis team finished a busy weekend in which it played three matches in three days by dropping a 7-0 match to No. 54 Drake at The Drake Tennis Center.
The only win for the Leathernecks (1-7) came in doubles play at No. 1 doubles. Senior Zach Frisch and junior James McGuire won their second straight match by defeating the Bulldogs' Maor Zirkin and Evgeny Silitski, 8-5.
In singles play, junior Neil Lesinski battled with Silitski at No. 3 doubles, taking the first set to a tiebreak. The Grayslake, Ill., native would drop the tiebreaker, and eventually the match, 7-6 (5), 6-4.
The Leathernecks are off until Sunday, February 22, when they face in-state rival Illinois State in Normal, Ill., at 1:30 p.m.
